Mother's Day 2010

I had a great Mother's Day this year!!!  My daughters are the greatest and I am so proud to be their mother.  I got the sweetest cards and some pretty awesome gifts. 

Erica got me diffuser set.  It is vanilla bean scented.. It smells so decadent.  It's a trio set which came with a candle and a car scent.  I opened the box today and I wanted to eat it..

Lindsey made me a beautiful quilt and pillow.  It is so pretty.. Lindsey has shocked me with her sewing skills.  She is pretty dang good.   She really has a talent with the sewing.  Her Dad and I went in together and bought her a sewing machine and she went right to work making me the quilt.  It was a surprise. You can see it has Happy Mother's Day sewn into it.  She had a little help with that and also.  It is up in the upper right hand corner and on the lower left corner it says Love Lindsey.

But more importantly I got to spend the whole day with them and my sisters.  I also got to spend time with my great nieces and nephews.  It was a great day I say.. I am such a blessed girl.. Oh yeah...

Luck? Nope- It's a God Thing...

My sister (Candy) and I went out for dinner Saturday night and as we were leaving Candy received a phone call from my niece.  She was ecstatic..  Her older brother (Jeff) had been in a accident and things didn't look good.  She was sure he had internal injuries and a brain injury.. 

We were at the hospital in no time..  Thinking the worse-- when the nurse called for the Elder family we followed the hospital personnel to a room..  With us being called in "the" room our minds all drifted back to the day we were told our mom was not going to make it and we needed to say our good-byes.  As my brother-in-law started crying out to God...  My heart sank..  My sister is not well, and it was the first time I had saw her in a year and she had shrunk to 94 pounds.  I got down on my knees and I grabbed her hand and I prayed for peace for my sister and brother in law.  I had got this feeling while walking back to the room that everything was going to be fine..  It had been about 3-4 minutes but it felt like 30 before the Dr. came in.

The Dr. told us, he is going to be fine.. He had a concussion and 1 fractured rib..  "Praise the Lord"..   She told us they wanted to keep him over night due to the concussion.  God is so good.  He actually showed up at our Mother's Day picnic yesterday and he was up walking around.  He is a little sore and had lots of bruises and scratches... But he is doing just fine..  Just fine I say

I spent more than my $40.00 budget for the week, but I will be out of town this week and I will not be doing any shopping.. I bought lots of cleaning products and washing detergent so I am good for about 6 months.  I don't plan on buying any cleaning products for a while unless they are free or dirt cheap.

1. What was the first car you owned?
The first car I owned was a blue Ford Thunderbird- I was 22 years old before I got my first car.  Of course I didn't have my license until I was 21/22




2. What song are you embarrassed to know the lyrics to?
Wow, there are many.  From some of the rap songs that are popular today to all the Barney songs.  Embarrased in two different ways. One is I quess more ashamed that I know the "bad" songs that I hear on the radio sometime.  Not really knowing the words but loving the beat.  Then when I really listen to the song and I hear the words I am embarrased that I liked the song..  Embarrased that I know all the barney songs.  Songs I hear 20 years ago I still know all the words.  My oldest daughter played those videos over and over and over..


3. Have you ever had stitches?
Yes I have had stiches- Let's see, probably 8 times before I was out of middle school.  I was a tomboy and always in to something I should not have been.  My mom was always taking me to the local MD to get sewed up.. This usually happened in the summer months...LOL.  While my mom was working


4. What was your first job?
My first "real" job was Kollege IN.  It was a discount outlet clothing store.  I was the luckiest girl in the 9th grade.  I got a new outfit about every day.. We got a huge discount..  I was certainly the best dressed girl at school..  To this day I still love, love clothes..


5. Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?
Myh favorite character is Ernie...  I just love him..

Blogging

I have not blogged in a while.  I really have not been in the mood.  I always get down in the dumps depressed or whatever you want to call it when there is a season change.  Mama passed away almost two years ago and I still miss her so much.  I have so many questions for her...  I look at how my life is in a turmoil and I wonder what advise she would have given me.  I always wanted her to be so proud of me. 

I know we all have to face death of our loved ones but it seems in the past 5 years I have lost so many people that I love..  I want to pick up the phone and call them all..  My mom, dad, brother, sister, Jason, Scott & Johnny.  I wonder what they would be doing now if they were alive.  We all have to learn how to deal with death.  It is not easy.. It is very hard.  I do love to talk about my loved ones... That is how I deal with it and how I keep there memories...  Some people had rather not talk about it, but I am an open person and I don't like to carry things by myself.  I like to call on others to help me carry my burdens and my hurts and my concerns.

I have still been couponing and have gotten some fabulous deals.  I just havn't blogged about them..  Heading to Publix and I know I will get some good buys..  I may feel like blogging about it later.

Five Question Friday!!

1. Did you past your drivers test on the first try?   I did pass my driver's test on the first try... Of course I was 21 years old... I had to try for my learners permit 3 times.. Yes... 3 times. 

2. What is your most embarassing moment??  Wow, there is not one most embarrassing moment that sticks out in my mind.  However, when I was a sophmore in high school, I used to sneak my older sisters clothes..  This particular time I was sneaking her cowboy boots to wear to school and it was dark in her closet and I felt around and grab the shoes, when I got to school I had 2 different boots on..  My mom would not come and get me so I had to wear them all day..

3.  What TV show would you like to be on- Oprah, Biggest Loser, or What Not to Wear?  Hmmm, My life is not interesting enough to be on Oprah.   I could stand to lose a little weight, but really not that much.. So  I guess that strikes out Biggest Loser..  I love What not to Wear..  So, I guess it is What not to wear..  Look out Stacey and Clinton...LOL

4. Would you ever get plastic surgery and what kind?  Well, I could sit here and Lie and say well, I have to be satisfied how God made me so I would not ever have plastic surgery but as I said it would be a lie..  Let's see I would start with my nose.  I inherited my honker from my moms side..  Which is long and crooked... I would love to have some reconstuctive surgery on my eye brow..  I was involved in a car accident in 1990 and I almost lost my left eye lid...  It is a mess...  It took most of my eye brow off..  It is a mess needless to say...

5.  What are your favorite jeans to wear?  Wow--  I have losts of jeans, and I really could not name a favorite.  I have several favorites..  I love my New York jeans.....  I love my skinny jeans....  Oh I love them all....

Hooked

I must say that I have gotten several of my friends, family members and co-workers hooked on clipping coupons.  Just taking them shopping one time and letting them actually see how to do it, helps convince them that I am not crazy for clipping all the coupons that I do....

I took a family member shopping Sunday at Publix and we only purchased what was on sale.  She was totally amazed when she seen the total.  $179.86- But we left there paying Publix $50.21...  A savings of over $128.00.  It was amazing.:)   Publix had there Kelloggs cereal on sale for 1/2 price..  She got about 8 boxes of cereal. 

I was just looking over the BI-LO weekly specials and they have over 4o BOGO sale items..  Yipppeeee
I am totally hooked and I am thinking I need to slow down a bit on my grocery shopping..   But I know i will be taking a trip to Publix and Bi-lo this week
